Two body styles, two alternators

The LML ran across a body change. The 2011-2013 trucks use the earlier GMT900 charging setup; the 2014-2016 trucks moved to the K2XX arrangement. Both are listed here, but they are not interchangeable — check your model year against the individual product listing before ordering.

Shared with the gas trucks

GM uses a common alternator across gas and diesel HD trucks of this era, so the LML takes the same unit as a gas Silverado of the same year. That opens up the full range of outputs and finishes rather than a diesel-only selection.

RVC and charging voltage

These trucks use Regulated Voltage Control, where the ECU decides charging voltage based on its own fuel-economy strategy rather than your electrical demand. RVC bypass alternators charge at a consistent voltage instead. See voltage control.

Why LML owners upgrade

Grid heater draw on cold starts, plus plows, upfitter equipment, inverters, winches, auxiliary lighting and audio. The factory alternator covers the truck and little else.
