Which Mustang do you have?

The 4.6L SOHC splits into two alternator applications: 1996-1998, and 1999-2004 excluding SVT and Bullitt. The 2003-2004 Cobra uses the supercharged 4.6L DOHC and takes a different unit again. The 2005-2008 cars are covered separately, including Shelby applications.

Check the individual product listing against your year and engine before ordering, since these look similar but are not interchangeable.

Why Mustang owners upgrade

Supercharged cars are the common case. An intercooler pump, a bigger fuel pump and an upgraded ignition all draw current the factory alternator was never sized for, and voltage drop under boost costs you spark and fuel delivery exactly when you need them.

Audio builds are the other case. A trunk system in a Mustang leaves limited room for battery reserve, so the charging system does more of the work.

Finish options

V-mount and billet housings are available in machined and black anodized. Cast housings suit daily drivers where appearance is secondary.
