- The Elite series large cast case 400-amp alternator offers great amperage output. Six phase technology, combined with massive twin rectifier assemblies and 12 huge diodes. This alternator is equipped with a 1.75" Mechman branded high output pulley. It is imperative that a 1/2" shorter serpentine belt is used with this alternator to avoid belt slip and maximum output power. You must also add 0-gauge power and ground wire from our alternator and go directly to the battery for maximum output power. You may leave your OEM cables in place, but the larger cables must be added with any amperage over 250 amps.
Many Corvettes experience electrical issues in near stock form so please ensure your current wiring is up to spec, secure, tight and routed away from high heat items under the hood. The starter wire and fan connector are known areas of concern and should be checked prior to installation of a higher output alternator. Adding a high output alternator will not solve bad or compromised wiring that is already present in the vehicle.
